Die optimale Bestandesdichte schwankt sehr stark (400-700 Ähren/m²) und wird vor allem von der Wasserversorgung des Standortes (je trockener desto geringer) dem Sortentyp (Bestandesdichtentyp, Einzelährentyp) und der Standfestigkeit (Sorte, organische Düngung, Wachstumsreglereinsatz) beeinflusst.
Very thin stocks can be strengthened by providing some of the nitrogen planned for the second application (splitting of the second nitrogen fertilization) earlier. In order to reduce workload, the entire second application is often preponed. Sufficient nitrogen supplies and maintains lateral shoots.
The application of growth regulators with cholesteryl chloride (combination with herbicide is possible) does not increase the number of tillers, but strengthens and maintains the existing tillers. Requirements are plants without stress, absent of night frosts and sunny weather.
Rapidly effective nitrogen fertilizers allow a quick correction of the conditions of the crop. Therefore we recommend products with ammonium and nitrate, possibly supplemented with sulphur.
